Our First Service in LUSAZE GRACE ASSEMBLY

“WELCOME TO LUSAZE GRACE ASSEMBLY”

Background:

Probably all of you know that I have been working with the largest and first Pentecostal in Uganda, the  “Full Gospel Churches of Uganda”.   When Christ appeared to me he took me to Makerere Full Gospel Church, where I have been trained and raised as minister till November 2000.  When things turned, many could not believe it. I was even surprised at myself but to cut a long story short, I had to leave our Full Gospel Church.  Really we went through hell, but I kept my focus on God. In the month of November my boss gave me one month to leave, I cried to the Lord to show me where to go since he was the one who lead me to M.F.G.C.  My senior pastor encouraged me by saying that God will speak to me in that short time and indeed he did speak. While I was taking part in the “Prophetical and issues of heart class” [by Denis Walsh] God gave me a dream. In the dream God showed me the building where we are now. But, it took me long to see the place which God showed me.

In April, my wife shared with me how she felt about what was taking place in her life; she was not well fed spiritually at MFGC.  When I heard that I remembered my former lecturer who had planted church, I said let me look for a place where my wife will be fed comfortably before starting the church since we were praying to start a church.   When I reached this place, I felt peace; Dennis my former lecturer was there.  I promised to come with my wife the following Sunday, we did go.

When the senior pastor saw me he was excited he gave us warm welcome.  All along they were praying to open a new sister church, one of the members in the church had located the place.  But many churches had feared this place, because of the witchcraft in this area and cemetery.   So the same week the senior pastor asked me to escort him to see this place, when we reached there I saw the building I dreamt 7 month ago I knew that this is where God wanted me to be.  Inspite of the witch doctor behind the building and cemetery before us.  We are experiencing a great revival in the area, we opened 10th June and three people came to the lord.  The following week, pastor Joshua sent me six believers we did personal evangelism 83 soul came to the Lord. And our first service we had 53 adults and 25 children.  This was the hand of God since we don’t have instrument neither a P.A system we give the whole glory to God.

ABOUT THE AREA (LUSAZE)

Lusaze is in the suburbs of Kampala.  It is about seven miles from Kampala.  The place is known because of two things:

  1. The city council cemetery (Limbo):  Since in Uganda there are some witches who are corps eaters.  This place is feared, people think that most of the people who settled in the area are corps eaters (I am not quite sure about this since we have been in this place only one man who came to the lord admitted it. But he is now born again).

  1. Witch Doctors:  After every four houses there is a witchdoctor its rear to find people who have not been involved in witchcraft.  But God is proving to them that he is the  Lord and master of every thing”.   (John and pastor Deo.)

Among the big catch we have had is a young man called John Kalema 24.  Who was just confirmed (ordained) as a witchdoctor.  The first time we met he could not shake my hands (common greeting in Uganda).  I absorbed the embarrassment and I shared with him, the plan of God for this life but listened however, at the end he did not give his life to Christ.   Further more he promised to come at Church in the morning at 8:00 a.m. I promised him to be there even though I stay two miles and there is no transport.  By 7:30 a.m. I was at the church at 8:00 a.m. he had come he wanted some kind of privacy we locked ourselves in a room.  We talked from 8:00 a.m to 2:00 p.m to cut the long story short.  His father had dedicated him to demons it had never been his wish to be a witch doctor, when he refused he went mad till he went through the process of becoming a witch.  He was given two talismans on both of his hands, and he was convinced that the day he put them down he would be mad again or die.

After sharing much experience, I have seen, and the word of God he surrendered both talismans

as seen in the  photo.  Other charms were at home.  I escorted him to bring them and we burnt them in Jesus name.

Brenda Tommie

The second big catch was of a young lady Brenda 18 years she was a prostitute.  One of the brother’s while I was preaching to John he was sharing the love of God to Brenda after talking to John, Vincent brought Brenda to me, Brenda shared with me openly that “Am a prostitute even John knows me, I sleep in that small stall what can I do now?”.   Tears almost came out of my eyes.  I told her to come to Church and we will share more.

That same evening Brenda came she had a three week baby in her arms to cut the long story short Brenda grew without knowing her father, her mother became pregnant when she was still at school her grandparents were very disappointed with that which resulted in hating Brenda.  At the age of fourteen Brenda some how managed to meet her father before his death and few days later he died, when Brenda went for the father’s burial something resulted in anger by her grand mother who was looking after her, Brenda’s mother who is still working in a bar.  The grand mother chased Brenda out of the house; she went to stay with a friend that is how she left school.  A friend who was a prostitute but never told her what type of work she was doing at the beginning, after a month her friends introduced her to the business she was doing.  The bar was owned by a muzungu (white) in Kampala.  She did that for two years, she failed to catch the ball and became pregnant, now the business was closed.  Her friends chased her out of the house and she ended up coming to Lusaze and a lady pitted her and allowed her to sleep in the stall at night, during the day this lady could sell bananas and sugar canes but also this lady could bring men to her they could share the money.  But Brenda now sleeps at church in a small room even though she does not have mattress with her baby, to her it is a miracle to get food and place to stay, she loves the Lord and I call her my daughter she will turn into a great evangelist.  So far she has brought two people to me and one got saved another not yet continue to pray for her.

This is Ssekabira. He is 10 years old and his father stays about 500 metres from the church.  He is in primary one.  Ssekabira had slept out side several times, when we launched the church he was last to leave. It was too late Vincent took him home and met the parents that same night disappeared and slept at his teachers house, the next day he came for the service also he stayed in the church I decided to take him back before we reached his father’s house other children told him that “His father and mother had said they are going to cut off his legs” he ran from my hands.  But, I managed to convince him not to run, I begged the father not to beat him, he agreed but the same night he was beaten and disappeared from home and this time he did not go to the bush he came to the church building.

The father agreed that he stays with us he will continue to pay for his school fees.  Few days later Ssekabira’s mother came running to church claiming that demons were strangling her; I prayed for her and asked her whether she dealt with witchcraft at home she did admit that she had them but they belong to her husband.

After prayers she said “I saw demons taking me to hell but the angel of God snatched her out of the demon’s hand”.  The same evening I went to meet the husband who gave his life to Christ and we burnt all the witchcraft they had.  The lady gave a testimony of how she had hated Ssekabira because did not have a boy.  She could not get love for Ssekabira that’s why Ssekabira was hated like that but now after her deliverance she vows to love him even though Ssekabira is not sure whether it is true.

BUILDING:   The building where we are it was built as a factory but the owner died before completing the project, now it is owned by the relatives who are keeping it for the boy who is ten years old.  Pastor Joshua of Grace Assembly asked if I’m willing to start a church in Lusaze, with his help. This was answered to prayer since I stay two miles from where the church is he gave me about $2,000 for hiring the building for one year renovating some parts after that he left us (I and my wife) to carry on the work to believe God for his provisional.

This was amazing to us since this man did not know us when he was giving a testimony he revealed that God spoke to him to do that.  May be God is speaking to you to help us in any way here is an opportunity to be part of what God is doing in this place here are some of the needs:

  1. Prayer:   This place is surrounded with witch doctors we need God’s protection pray that God may help us to love this people the big question asked is “Will you Love us?”.
  2. God’s provision (pastor’s house rent): The major need we have is house rent $150 per month as we believe God for providing for our daily food, accommodation is serious need for us and we feel that Brenda need’s to stay with a family.  If we care and rent a house for her now, she is likely to go back in her former ways.  So we feel we should keep a close eye on her therefore, we want her to be staying with us.
  3. Church Needs: The building has been there for a long time it needs renovation the good thing is that the money we spend on renovation, half of it goes on house rent so by helping to renovate the building you are helping to hire the building.
  4. Renovation/required Budget:
